Its been one week since Nick and Sharna made their grand entrance into the ballroom and tied for highest score of the night with their explosive Cha-Cha. They proved themselves to be contenders, but where do you go when youre on top in week one? If youre Team SharNick, you only improve, of course.
This week, celebrities and pros opened about where they came from and their hometowns. Nick, of course, spoke about his hometown of Tampa, FL and his teacher, Sandy Karl, who inspired him to perform (you might remember her from the Backstreet Boys movie) and ultimately instill him with the confidence to become a Backstreet Boy.
Nick and Sharna hit the dancefloor this week with a Jive performed to Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, a fairly quick paced hit from the 1950s. Clad as a jazzed up sailor, with no sleeves and a little bling, Team SharNick did well, despite a little slip (which looked nearly choreographed) mid routine. In true Carter fashion, he continued the dance as if nothing happened. As the dance came to an end though, Nick was clearly upset with his slippery bottomed shoes as he tossed them across the floor and awaited judges scores in socked feet.
Did the accidental slip affect his scores? Hardly. Bruno, Julianne, and Carrie seemed to be understanding of the first-Jive jitters and simply suggested not to let little things get to him. re a BACKSTREET BOY! Carrie exclaimed, alluding to the fact that Nick should just be Nick and let the little things go. We couldnt agree more.
In the end, Nick and Sharna scored 21 out of 30, which is not too shabby for the second week of competitions and actually gives them room for improvement. We cant wait to see the pair perform the Foxtrot tomorrow!
